General Basic Question
Posted by traindaddy1 on Saturday, August 5, 2006 4:14 PM
Hello:  I am not a Garden Railroad person, only an indoor Lionel train guy who has a question for you. What do you do to your layout/rolling stock when it rains?    Just curious! Many thanks.

i made a special 4 wheel cart to take my engines and rolling stock in and out of the basement, my basement door is ground level , this works for me. the cart holds 2 engines and 12 cars.  i don't keep them out all the time. ben

Quite a few Large Scalers, including us, have storage/staging areas inside the house or some outbuilding.

Some guys even have lines that run into their garages or basements.

To ALL:       It must certainly be  nice to have the space and good fortune to be able to run a Garden Railroad.  For me, being retired and "older", I can only dream and admire your layouts. (ie., unless I win the lottery and shed twenty years) Many thanks for the info.

I watch them get wet, while I try to stay dry while running my trains outdoors.

The handbuilt rolling stock and the engines get brought inside.  The rest of it just gets another dose of "natural weathering" Smile [:)]
