Im not sure what kind of decoder i should put in my BACHMANN HO Bethleham steel company engine.

The first thing that must be determined is whether or not this engine is DCC ready and/or whether there is room for a decoder.  If it is not a Spectrum DCC ready engine, chances are that you will have to use a dime-sized decoder such as the Train Control Systems M-1.

I would like to suggest that you check Tony's Train Exchange's web site and see if he lists this particular engine in his decoder applications chart.  http://www.tonystrains.com

You migh also post your question over on the Model Railroader magazine forum instead of here in the Garden Railways forum.  MR is more for HO and N scalers.
