Okay, I've been told that Firefox on a Mac is the way to go for this web site, and while I'd much prefer Safari, since that's where all my bookmarks, etc. are, I'll have a go. At least it's not Internet Exploder.

Well, it seems to work. Good to know.Smile [:)] Now, if they could just fix the Safari problem. Sad [:(]

Mike, I tried your way and it works perfectly.  Thanks for the tip.  It is only when I paste in the url first and then add the image tags that I have the problem.

Regards,

Bill

All I do is bring up the properties when I right click on a picture on my website and copy it Then I type [ img ] [ /img ] just like I did on the old forum . In between the brackets I paste the photo properties .

I found that I can also get around this picture posting problem by pasting the url into my Microsoft Word processing program, adding the image tags, then copying and pasting it here.

Regards to all,

Bill

Bill,

The "techie" at our place figured out that it works well when using "Netscape 7.1" and acts up with the other browsers (OPERA and IE).

Annoying!

The "techie" was also puzzled why this happens with new forum software, he called it "unusual"! (but the spelling was different) ;-)

It still doesn't work for me either.  I certainly would appreciate some insight from the website designer so it can be resolved.

Told ya, Kevin, Kalbach got the ECONOMY web package, they forgot that alot of us actually like to SHARE pics of what we do.....I'm sure the decision was made for all the right reasons ( $ ) as I said, its the one big 600 lb Gorilla of a foul-up no one at Kalmbach seams will ing to discuss, I've brought the issue up on both the MR and Trains forum, the reply was the sound of crickets chirping in an empty field...

   Have fun with your trains

Wierd!!

Before I had pasted the URL and then put the tags on each end.  Why would the sequence that you typed the stuff make a difference? Confused [%-)]

Thanks Tom.  I owe you one.Bow [bow]

Tom,

Put the image tag first, then the url followed by the closing tag.....

Here goes,

It just did it to me for the first time. Let's see, I tried:

http://www.gardentrack.com/aristo/ART11901.jpg" border="0" />

The trouble is (looking at the generated html), it started an image tag, but ended it with a </A> which ends a link, not an image.

Oh! You get this if you put in the url, THEN put the img tags. Put the opening img tag, then the url, then the closing tag, and it works.

Ok, let's sort this out.

First of all, if you are on a PC, don't bother because most off them will work.

For Mac OS X users, Safari will not work, not Explorer or Firefox either. Try Netscape 7.1, that will work.

trains.com really need to do something about this. The forum have very bad Mac support. Nothing is wrong with the Mac browsers.

The old forum worked perfect for Mac users, with the same browsers that does not work now.

There are more problems as well. I can't quote, I can't post smileys, I can't use Firefox at all, not even write plain text and so on...

How do I know? I have been using Mac for 20 years, and I'm also a PC technician.

Sounds like spyware at work to me I would offer a word of caution useing about your work computer to add Items to any forums.

My wife's work restricts access to a lot of sites. One of my step's  is a Network Eng for a major world wide Corperation She reviews all Emails for abuse of corperate policy and has seen some real abuse's AND YES THE CORPERATE WORLD DOES HAVE BIG EYES  WHEN IT COMES TO YOU AND THERE EQUIPMENT.BIG BROTHER AND SISTER ARE WATCHING SoapBox [soapbox]

I got my sig block and this "avatar" thingie to work, but I don't know how i did it.  Can't get a photo to post and I've tried the URL prompts which is the extent of my 'puter knowledge.  I've got a home-made PC with pentium IV and XP.

I too have a Dell PC but I didn't have any trouble posting a pic.

I do miss all the short-cuts for posting though.  Rene, is there a chance this new website can be modified to be a bit more user (i.e. us) friendly? (By the way I wanted to insert a smiley ? here but gave up as there isn't the associated icons anymore, big sigh!!!!!!!!!)

When I opened up a new post to show some pics the 'old' tool bar with all of the symbols for pics wasn't there, so I have no idea how to do it anymore. Please put it back to how it was so all of us 'thickies' like me can work the damn the thing. I'm off to 'G Scale Mad' where everything is how it should be. Bye.

Hi all,

Just to let everyone know, including the forum administrator, I use a Dell PC and have the same problem that Kevin had with his Mac.

I sure hope the photo posting bug gets eradicated.

Bill

Matt;

Thanks, guess I should have asked the grand kid, that way would not have made a public booboo.

I run Microsoft Internet Explorer and this is what I get.  Looks similar to what others have experienced.
