I'm back as well - back here on the forum and back home after visiting the LGB Birthday Celebrations over the weekend.
The trip to Nuremburg went well - left home last Wednesday and using the Channel Tunnel Shuttle we were soon driving across France into Belgium and onto Germany where we overnighted in the mountains near Aachen. On Friday we had a comfortable drive down the Rhine stopping for lunch at Rudesheim - the restaurant overlooked the freight line down the Rhine. Our destination that night was the Herpa factory just outside Nuremburg. Friday we visited the DB Museum and did the tourist thing round Nuremburg.
Saturday was the big day - we arrived at the Park & Ride site at Vedes (a large wholesaler - near where Mr. H. held his rallies in the 1930's) where a number of LGB layouts were exhibited - these were awesome. Wolfgang Richter of LGB arrived as we did so we got introduced even though he was busy taking his own pictures. Then it was the shuttle bus to the main LGB site which was heaving - it was hot and sunny but there was plenty to do and see as well as plenty of food and drink sales. Tried to find Jack Lynch but we missed each other. Some of my mates attended the auction and got some goodies but there seemed to be all-round indignation at the 33% Auctioneers Commission!!
Sunday was much quieter - we visited the Nuremburg Tram Museum and went for a town ride on a preserved tram after which we visited the DB carraige works, both of which werer part of the LGB Celebrations, all joined together by shuttle buses.
Monday morning we visited the Ritzer Model Shop in Nuremburg and left with some more LGB goodies - then it was the Autobahn to Wurzburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Aachen, Brussels, Ostend and on to Calais for the shuttle to Folkestone - about 500 miles. Had some drama between Brussels and Ostend as something hit the side of the side of the car (a Toyota 7-seater People Carrier) resulting in the implosion of two of the side windows (just as we were cruising along at about 100mph on a clear, straight but busy road!!!). We all got covered in glass shards but luckily everyone was ok - we cleared the glass out of the car and continued on our way. Thinking back on it, think we were very lucky.
All in all, a great weekend. Thank you LGB!!!

i like the new forum although i agree it has the win XP feel about it!
i love the shrunk signiture pics. they were mostly far too big anyway (physical size not memory)

Rene a short course in the new formats annd coding for thing like quickly adding pics, . If I have to type in the [img] brackets every time I want to post a pic, this new format seams like a big step down in flexibility
OK I cant even right click to cut and paste to edit THIS post as I'm typing it, this is like working with DOS

Cj, change the time zone setting in your profile. We all live in different parts of the world. Yours is set to GMT, that's why you have odd time tags.
I'm back, but with a different forum name. Yes, yes just like Prince did.
Anyway, I look forward to some good topics to restart things!
