Who was at the Queen Mary train show? any photos? what did you buy?

Went Saturday, got to meet Rene at the Kalmbach booth, she's even nicer in person than she is online!

I think it was better than last year, more vendors. Apparently this is the LAST year at the Queen Mary, next year the BTS will be held in Ontario, Calif. at a new convention center, more room for vendors and displays.

Took some pics, some at the MLS booth but also around the show, this is a repost of my MLS post…some names are familiar...

Show buys!
House of Balsa had a 2 for one sale on CA so I got a ton of that ....and....

My $20 BTS steal of the show...

It even runs! needs lube pretty bad, growls when run, even if its motor is shot, I can always bash a Stainz drive under it...

And my one big purchase...

Its an LGB Mogul chassis, the last one for sale I've seen in a long time. I waffled and waffled all day long over this one but after getting a good look at the new LGB SP Mogul with the Vandy tender, the price was good and I just couldnt resist, I had to have one. [:D]

From my perspective, everyone who came to the booth seemed happy. I literally had no negative comments, which is a good feeling. [:)] Sorry, I don't have any pics, as I was at the booth the majority of the time. It looks like both MTH and Accucraft are coming out with a bunch of new products, all of which looked great.

Well I decided to buy the drivetrain after getting a good look at this one...

I usually am not a fan of the LGB Mogul but this one really got my attention...I like the shorty vanderbuilt tender , of course I could also build a Minaret type tank engine with it also... We'll see...I hate to say this but I'm going to have to consider storing some of my smallest dinkies and critters to make room for these new ones.

For the Columbia I'll have to see how well it works on the layout, power seams OK but the wheels are very dirty and its got a grinding sound when running. So once I've checked it out I may decide to find a Stainz to repower it. More projects, never enough time[:D]

Got to meet Rene, and yes I have to agree with Vic, she is a very nice young lady. Unfortunately (for her) when I met her she was surrounded by a bunch of "GRR Widows". Missed meting Vic by about 15 minutes.

I went looking for just two things, 1) a brass band for my gazebo & 2) a few structures. No one had a brass band (of any era), and was severely disappointed with the craftsmanship of the "handcrafted for special order" wooden structures.

Picked up another case of "Split Jaw" rail clamps. Outside there was a MARVELOUS selection of live plants, $6~$12 for most in our size range, they had some of the $200 trees, (plant a $12 tree today and in six years it will be a $200 tree).
