Well, I don't know about the Aristo Sound module, but the Phoenix Sound System I have in my RS3 will charge off of track or battery power. The guy who installed it for me is a very knowledgeable person, who belongs to my GRR club, and he runs his sound systems off of battery or track power.

It's an Aristo Craft sound module-- and I have an Aristo Train Engineer and Li-ion battery. (I still haven't decided whether to put the battery inside the RS-3 or in a trailing car) I keep putting the whole conversion off, but now that I have the sound module and summer train weather has arrived, I'd like to get going.
It's my first conversion, so I'm nervous.

Thanks

Hugh,

What brand of sound is fitted?

If you are using a trail car set up and depending on how the loco is wired it is likely the sound battery will still charge off the battery throttle output.

If it is Sierra and using an onboard R/C you can still use the sound battery, but it may also be possible to eliminate that battery.

Please advise.

Best wishes,

Tony Walsham

Just got and module off e-bay. Instruction manual points out that it charges its battery off track power. What happens if I'm running the loco on battery power?

Thanks for any advice you can spare.

Hugh
