Reason 432 to use Code 338 track...D*mn Moles! A couple of days ago, I was going to ask what would cause a thriving plant to overnight seem to become gravely ill, I suspected it might have got "watered" by an animal or possibly moles got the roots but last night my railroad suffered a massive mole attatck and confirmed the latter. What's this have to do with track? When new guys ask about track, among the other virtues of big old Code 338 people talk about its strength when stepped on, let me confirm that in spades--this morning I had to heel to toe about 10 feet of track to get it back down. All my track is ballasted in a 2" deep trough and they must have hit the ballast about an inch down and turned and followed the track-I guess it must have trickled 'cause they sure seem to enjoy it. I guess my question is now...how do you get rid of the varmits?
