I was in the bookstore the other night, trying to kill a couple of hours, and I picked up a copy of O-Gauge magazine and perused it's pages. Inside was an article about animating a vehicle roadway and it got me to thinking about asking if anyone has done that type of thing with their GR layout and if so, how did you do it?
I saw one on a GR in Canada last year that was essentially a treadmill type of operation that had the portion where the cars pop up and go down hidden from sight, but I don't have the luxury of elevating a portion of my roads to accomodate that type of set up.
So, has anyone attempted this?

The Fairplex Garden RR still has the original highwayin place built way back in the 50's. It consisted of track that was set in concrete leaving two grooves for the flanged tires of modified metal toy trucks and cars, which were modified with similar model RR motors used on the RR equipement and operated the same way, via power in the track. the "tires" were flanged wheels painted to look like whitewalls. I dont know if any still operate but they did have a few vehicles on display.
Have fun with your trains
