Is it possible to convert MTH's DCS system to radio control?

Now that I've used R/C for the first time (this week), I can never go back to power thru the tracks outdoors (using O gauge).

I have DCS but now that I'm using R/C, I'm thinking I really can't use it. Or can I?

One idea would be to take apart the TIU and string the components up in the rolling stock and hard-wire that to the loco.

One person suggested instead to transmit an RF signal.

Any suggestions appreciated; even if only to say it's impossible.

Anyway, if it doesn't work out, I am still happy outdoors with silent, nonprogrammable trains running past my mini plants.

David,
The DCS system is already radio controlled.
I can't imagine it would be possible to chop up the TIU and mount it on board.

If you are enquiring as to whether or not the on board part of the DCS system can be run on battery R/C the answer is yes BUT!!!
Unless you are capable of creating the DCS codes to whistle and bell functions you can R/C the motor only. The DCS feedback system creates a lot of RF interference that drastically shortens the range.

Best wishes,

Modern technology.  Old fashioned reliability.

Thanks, Tony,

Suspected it might be impossible (or nearly so).
