Thanks, guys for tips. Boxcars seem to be most popular as battery cars.
So the same battery car doesn't follow the locos around all the time, I'm considering wiring up a few other rolling stocks so that I can move the battery car around in the consist and shake things up a bit.
Anyone tried this?

The LGB boxcar behind the F3-A/B(-) is my battery/RC car. The roof comes off for battery changes. By taking the case off, I can use either stemed or flat drill batteries. I put roller bearing wheelsets on it to reduce rolling resistance and wear due to the weight. The F3-B body is off for test run after installing battery/track conversion wiring.

Hey There,
Boxcars work good to haul batteries, i have 2 of them i use. go to radio shack and buy the plastic battery holders, rechargeable batteries and a small headphone type jack to hook between the cars. put the batteryies in the holder then in the box car with the power wire to plug into the back of the tender. set up the charger so you can plug the power wire into it then you dont have to take the car apart all the time. when one gets low, pull it off and put on a newly charged car. speed controler and sound board are in the tender. it really works sweet, i hope this helps you out ??

Guys, this weekend is the big moment. I just need to select a freight car to haul the batteries and speed controler (O scale garden).
I don't want the batteries to show but I want easy access. What would you use?
Perhaps a boxcar and make the shell so it can be removed easily or perhaps a gondola or flatcar carrying a concealed load beneath a tarp?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Oh and 1 more question. Are the male/female wire connectors sold by radio shack good enough for making the wire connections so they can be taken apart readily?
Thanks
