US Mid-West visit
Posted by toenailridgesl on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 12:41 AM
Gents & lovely lady Rene'!
Kathy & I fly out tomorrow (Wed ) morning for the US. We're heading for Davenport, Iowa to help celebrate Kath's mum's 90th birthday.
Rene', I'll phone you if I can get a bus to Milwaukee to visit you.
After Iowa we head for Tacoma where I am going to finally get to meet my old mate Dave (Curmudgeon). He tells me that the Yukon Jack is on him :) I'm bring a bucket!
Catch up with all of my GR mates in 3 weeks.

Phil, if your travel plans detour south of I-80 to Denver, let me know. It's not on the beaten path between Iowa and Washington State, but should the interstate be closed, I-70 through Glenwood Canyon is far more scenic a drive.

Later,

The garden railroad show at Milwaukee's Mitchell Park Domes is another good one this year.

Thanks Tom,
We're 1 hour south of I 80 down I 29 on the Iowa side till you hit NEB City exit.
Daven port is aways away.

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

No it's not!. It's right outside this front door!
We arrived OK, the snow has gone, temps are nearly human & the family is all well.
Marty, we are 300 miles from Nebraska, would love to visit a fellow GR mag author & drink your beer but...... :(
The only bad news is that all of bro-in-laws still really bad jokes (unlike mine, which are exemplary.....)
I managed to find one place in this burg that sells GR mag but they don't have the April issue in yet, hopefully it'll arrive before next Wed when we fly out.

Phil-

You need to e-mail me (in profile) or call me (in GR ad) so we can confirm dates.
I have a conflict later......

Why not come by and visit me Phil? I'm a mere 1500 miles (2,414 Kilometers) away, an easy day trip!

Yeah, sure TJ, The last time I came across the bridge tunnel you had erected barriers across the roads into Virginia Beach so I had to go to Richmond instead!

What would you use to repel Phil, a tank?

Welcome to IA, I hope you enjoy your stay here... I'd invite you over to see what I have, but it would be real boring...as I havent started the layout yet. You'll get to see 1st hand how the weather fluctuates as today was in the 60's (as you probably noticed) with tomorrow in the 30's
