News from the Nürnberg Toy Fair
Posted by RhB_HJ on Thursday, February 2, 2006 10:50 PM
Hi all,

I hope this isn't infringing on any News embargo. [:)][;)]

The sensation of this year's NTF in the large scale segment is the surprise announcement from PIKO ( the people with lots of large scale structures) on their new DB prototype engine. It is a modern engine of the TAURUS series, is supposed to hit the market at the 220 Euro mark (approx. US$270) and has some really nice detail i.e. wheels that have bolt and other detail.

As Dr. Wilfer put it:
QUOTE: "Es kostet gleich viel, ob Sie es schön oder hässlich machen"

It costs the same money if you produce it nice or ugly. This in reference to the tooling and production cost. Hmmmmmmmmm.... I couldn't agree more!

BRAWA, who had the really large SURPRISE last year, is coming out with prototypical cars in exact 1:22.5 scale based on the same running gear as the museum cars of the steam train. These models are exact replicas of

the C 2012 car (unlike the "almost to scale" item from "you know who")

the MoW / service vehicles X 9023; Xk 9039; Xk 9023

It is refreshing to see that a manufacturer had the foresight to pick prototypes which are not just slightly plausible (as in "might have been" and "close enough"!), but are models which ran/run on the RhB. And to make it still sweeter in proper 1:22.5 scale!!![:p][:)][:D]

As the rest of the NEWS comes in we'll have a "NEW for 2006 at NTF" thread on the RhB forum. Naturally the emphasis will be on RhB models.[;)][;)][:D][:D]
