Hi willblake42
Me I use the same size wire for everything on the low volts side of things.
Exept where the manufacturer has used something diferent in which case I up size the wire within 6" of the accsesory or put the right sized and type lug on the end of my wire to fit the conector screw all that changes is the colour.
regards John

Since the power pack for LGB EPL drives is only 500 milliamp, you can use much smaller wire for these than the track.

I have used telephone wire with no problems. This wire is nice in that it is 4 wires and is very manageable, and is enclosed in tubing.

I recently got some discarded cat5 cable and I will use this for wiring epl drives in the future.

18 guage would be more than large enough for the EPL LGB units.
