Coach seats?

C16Shay, the combine in the photo isn't a Hartford kit, just the individual seats. The combine itself is scratchbuilt.

Hartford kit looks great but $80? BTW, Kevin - Have you thought of doing an article on track laying, clearances, spacing, passing length etc? The articles often skip this and the NMRA ignores it altogether for anything over 1:48.

Very nice. Have purchased a Hartfod coach just recently and the picture as they say is worth a thousand words, or attempts. Thanks for that.

You might try Hartford Products. www.hartfordpr.com . They sell a coach interior kit which may work for you. It consists of white-metal castings for the metalwork of a coach seat, and all you need do is add the cushions. (The full kit may even come with them. I purchased my seats separately. I don't know if this is still an option with the new owners.)


The seats themselves are wood, covered with athletic tape.

The frame is regular styrene sheet, the seats and backs are some kind of pressboard our local building supply place sells as (indoor) molding. It already came in two widths, so I could use the 20mm for the seat, 30mm for the back. The stuff is cheap, and very easy to cut. I used a small hobby saw and smoothened the cuts with a very sharp knife.

Is there any company that sells coach seats for detailing the inside of a coach? I'm not really thinking of tricking out the complete interior but it would be nice to have some passengers visible through the windows.
