The trick is to get the right wheel wired to the right side and the left to the left on both trucks. Not "black to right and red to left." Since one truck faces the opposite direction from the other, one end will have the red on the right and the other on the left[;)]

Good job, Capt. Bob (I'm a poet and didn't know it) <g>
Anyway, I really like to see threads like this. A problem has occurred, you ask for help, and someone has taken the time, with their knowledge of similar problems, or just knowledge from reading, and answers with the right solution. (Thanks, all working now).
again, good job Capt. Bob

Remember seeing something recently on aristo forum about this. circuit board printed on floor between chassis floor and floor overlay? something about different pickup configuration on one set of trucks in relation to the other?
Probably a search over there would better answer your question, even the exploded parts diagram might be of some help!
PS,
Went and did it for you, "Re-wiring an Aristo Heavyweight" January 12th & 13th 2006.
Has pictures also!

I purchased a couple of used heavyweights and had to replace the trucks to get them to work. However I reconnected the lighting and find it shorts.
All the wiring runs through the floor boards of the cars.
For electical pick up -one connection to one side of the wheel and the other wire is connect the the opposite side of the other wheel. And the same is completed for the other wheel set.
Tried reversing the wires, but still shorts.
Thanks.
