Display case - custom/expandable

Maybe it's just me but their prices seem a little steep. Seems to me that $250.00 can buy quite a bit of nice lumber and you could custom build a case that would hold far more trains than just four short consists.

But hey, that's me.

I noticed that Showcase-Express has added an expandable G Scale display case option to their display system. http://www.showcase-express.com/maintrain/trains.html

Has any one tried the G Scale display case or have experience with the other display case scales?
