I just purchased my first R/C unit! I'm stoked. It's coming in the mail. This one:

Plan to weather it; add a snowplow and a track cleaner as well. Also plan on getting recharger for D-cell batteries, which it takes, hope they make those!

I would like very much to convert some of my electric motive power to battery r/c.
Is there anyone with experience doing this who can advise.
My understanding is that large O scale locomotives are still big enough to do this.
It would be esp. helpful if somewhere there's a detailed article or posting on how to perform this transformation.
I don't have a clue where to begin. For example, does the batter power the electric motors?
I'm using 3-rail LIonel-type trains btw, so they are AC powered.
