I got the right angle drive attachment and this gives me better control and flexibility in using my Dremel.

Paul,

Thanks for the response and the link. I now have a PDF of the basic tools with pretty fair pics and I'll just match them up and label the storage cases as necessary. Amazing to me that Dremel does not label the holders in the case or at least color code the shanks in some way. Especially since they make such a big deal out of their color charts in what they do include by way of documentation and on their Web site.

Best to all,

TJ

Dremel's site http://www.dremel.com/ has pictures of their bits with numbers.
Enjoy

Eh, experimentation should tell you what the book forgot to mention. Or check out where you bought it for more info, even a big box store ought to have some sort of catalog that would tell you something.

Try the manufacturer, they should have some sort of address somewhere on the box or book, may even have a website where you can get the needed info!

Dremel tool question
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 2:59 PM
Gonna try my hand at some scratchbuilding (in a very newbie "small" way) so I figured a Dremel would come in handy.

Purchased a #400-3/51 Dremel 400 Series XPR Rotary Tool Kit. Comes with a bunch of tools in two "mini-storage cases" to quote the inadequate documentation.

Problem is that none of the tools in either mini case are labeled with part number or any other identifying feature. So while the documentation tells me that color coded Red tools are for cutting, there's not ready way to tell which of the 51 attachements are red. While I can look up that the for fine engraving projects I need a #105 and #111 engraving cutter I can tell if I have one or the other.

Have I just gotten in too deep in a "if you have to ask then the tools are too advanced for your neophyte hands"?

Any help appreciated.
