Hello David.
The chuff timing on MTH DCS Challenger steam sound is achieved by reading a bar code that is stuck around the edge of the flywheel mounted on the end one of the motors. I assume this would also be so for other MTH equipped locos.
I assume you would need to replicate this bar code and reader assembly on any other non MTH brand installations.
I too would like to know if there is any other way to do it.
I am not conversant with how the diesel sounds ramp up and down.

Best wishes,

Tony Walsham

hi,
I was wondering if anyone has converted an aristo or usa or lgb engine to mth dcs protosound 2.0. they claim you can only install this system if you have a flywheel. got any suggestions?
thanks,
