Bachamnn 0-4-0 Porter's Good runners?

I have A WESTERN MARYLAND, A PENNA., a HERSHEY, AND AN ATLANTA COAST LINE RS3.AND like i said , i want to get another one , maybe at the ECLSTS IN APRIL .

I'm Also considering getting a WM RS3 that our hobby shop has, As RS3's are one of my favorite engines.... [^] Hehe, I think ill be trying to get the 0-4-0 and the RS3 now [:p]

RS-3 IS A GOOD engine i have 4 of them and i am thinking of getting another one . my oldest is about 5 years old and still running strong and the last two are only a little over 6 months old, i also have a U 25 B , a center cab , and 4 little critters , 2 USA shifters.

I don't know much about the older side tanks, but the newer release seems to be great. I have two of these which have been converted to battery power and DCC control with sound using the new CVP Airwire system and I have had wonderful results. After the electronics installation I had to add weight to get the Porters to pull anything, but now they are completed they are probably my favorite small locomotives... [:D]

Several online dealers have them for less than $80 and I have found them even cheaper on eBay.

$80 would be nearer the mark.

I thought I read that they were bringing out the side tank again. Perhaps somebody else can comment.

[:D] That's good new's, As they got for about $100.00 online at some sites, and they look cool, I think i'll be adding one to my roster in the near future.

The last version of the old Bachmann side tank Porters were excellent runners. The original side-tankers were'nt bad but had plastic side rods etc & the gearbox was prone to stripping under extreme loads.
The latest saddle tank Porter has received mixed reviews, being variously accused of poor tracking due to the fixed front axle, noisy motion & occasional erratic running.
I've had 3 original plastic side-rod Porters running on the Ridge for 9 years, including one that NEVER comes in out of the weather. Still runs fine.

Well, today My big gift was to start a Garden Railway, Well once it's warmer out [:p], But I find my self looking for some motive power, Rolling stock's rather easy, but i'm wondering i the Porter's are good runners?[:D] I'm planning something on the line's of a modern day tourist line... and a 0-4-0 porter would be nice, but I dont wanna buy a dud engine [xx(], Im also looking at a Aristo RS3, S2 or another ALCo.... Though, I'll probably will only be getting one any time soon.... [^]
