If your gonna moan and complain about it, you could store it "out of sight" over here at my place, until such time as you were to appreciate it again.

Cheers guys and Merry Christmas to you all. Sorry TJ, you're not getting it that easy and Ian, you are definately right - I'm not letting Gail know what I really think!! It is an awesome loco and LGB do err on the side of caution with add on bits. When I bought a mogul when they first came out I thought it was superb, just the same detail as the mallet but since then other manufacturers have come on the scene and - I think - spoiled us with their level of detail. Railroadingman is quite right, I am thankful for what I have and I will detail it as time permits.
Cheers,
Kim

Oh Kim, [V], what a worthless piece of crap that thing is. You should send it to me immediately and get rid of it. I might be able to salvage some of it, but I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing that I let a friend like you in the larch.

Hey Kim
Awesome loco. [8D]But if Gail reads your above comments, won`t she ask why you bothered. Or is she still not talking to you?[B)]

All the best and Merry Christmas

The thing is to get as much detail on it as you can and still be able to pick it up without breaking most of it.I think LGB tend to err on the side of caution. If it's not there, you can't break it !
Everybody looks for different things on a model (toy)or otherwise.People like yourself can add the details and make it better. Some people can't.They are the ones that shouldn't complain.Be thankfull for what you get..[:D]

Oh yes, it's all of that. It's just going to look better when the toy bell has been replaced and there's a rope to it from the cab and those front handrails have been replaced with brass and it's had a 'wash' in thinned black paint with a bit of rust here and there and...................and.............and.............

Kim

Hi guys,

My LGB mallet arrived yesterday afternoon at 3.30 and by 3.40 it was on the tracks, after checking that the gears had been greased and the switches were in the right position. These pics where taken after the run.

The sound system is superb and loud but I have to say that the model itself is ok, not wonderful, just ok, no 'wow factor'. This is something I've wanted since they were introduced and the wait has been agonising since I bought it, I was like a kid opening the parcel, out of the box it came, looked at it and there was nothing there, no 'wow'. When I buy, or bash, a loco I spend quite a long time just looking and absorbing the detail, I looked at this one for about a minute and my thoughts were 'what detail', (it's going to get bashed). The detailing that's there leaves a bit to be desired, this is an oil burning loco yet on the footplate there is a pile of coal from its Uintah days, the handrails by the lamp at the front must scale out at about 6" diameter and whilst the instruction booklet says opening cab doors they don't. The set up switches are in the boiler and are accessed through the rear dome, the problem is you can't see 2 of the switches because LGB have run cables over the *** thing and they are not for moving, I checked them by 'feel'. The one I've bought is a few years old and spent its life in a display case, I hope the reintroduced ones have a bit more 'spark' about them. LGB, go and look at the Bachmann connie, now that does have a 'wow factor' and it's something I still look at and admire.
Cheers,
Kim
