Drean-Plan-Build DVD-anyone else get this yet?

I received a package in the mail, openied it and found a DVD package with a letter asking me to please view the DVD and if I found it usefull its only $9 if not to return it with the label provided. Well I havent been too impressed with model making videos in the past but I gave this one a try,

WOW!

Overall I was rather surprised by its quality, I coming from HO I expected it to be mostly HO oriented but there was one garden RR and 2 O scale empires.

While this DVD is clearly aimed at the HO modeler I have found that almost everything in the smaller scales has some crossover to LS, particularly if your very scale or detail consience.

There a nice little primers on airbrush use, for us insiders on painting backdrops and usinf plaster scenery. A great lttle bit on Speeder collectors ( I want one now! ) and several excellent layouts

I'm keeping this DVD just for George Sellios' Manchester and South Franklin layout! Holy Catburgers is that layout cool, it also features the Northlandz layout in New Jersey, and several others that are worth the viewing.

Any other comments? are you keeping or returning?

Maybe its been done differently based on which magazine you subscribe to, I believe most MR subscribers got thiers in October, maybe now its heading to GR subscribers.

Supposedly CCT subscribers will also (or already) get it, dont know about CT or Trains subs. Maybe Rene can tell us more?[8D]

Yes, Model Railroader subscribers (randomly chosen) got one in October. A select group of GR and Classic Toy Trains subscribers had one mailed out at the end of November.

Hi all,
I received my DVD regarding the above subject at the end of November and I was not impressed and have returned it. I found that 99% of the information that it contained was related to the "HO" and other scales. As Rene stated in the previous post some people were picked from the Garden Railways list . My name was one of the one's that were picked and I don't understand why a product that is geared mostly to the other scale was sent to someone that is active in G Scale. I think it was a REAL GREAT IDEA but I feel that if it is being sent to a G Scaler it should have been geared to the G Scale. I also feel that it should contain information related to building or modeling rolling stock, building structures, building railbeds, hand laying track and switches and all the tips and shortcuts that so many people post in the forums. I do hope that I have not upset anyone but I also hope that they LISTEN and will produce a product along the same line that is SCALE SPECIFIC. This is just my [2c].
Merry Christmas and Happy New Near

Interesting, I've found that almost everything I learned in HO I've been able to apply to G.
Dont forget Ron, it is only the 1st DVD... lets hope for more G in the future...

VSmith,
You are right it is only the first and then I must say why pay for something that isn't G Scale or the scale I am interested in. Remember, as you have just stated, "IT'S ONLY THE FIRST" and every other DVD will cost you an additional $10.00 over and above the original $9.95 and we have NO guarantee or any knowledge of what will be contained in the rest of this series of the DVD's. Its like buying a PIG in a POKE.

I also (MR and GR subscriber) received in October; waiting for Santa to arrive to be able to look at it. Every few weeks, receive a letter asking for DVD return. Quite a few requests in the pile now.
