For you smoke adders out there, take a look here.
http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/effects/smoke.htm

I noticed the smoke was missing when I took a picture of my HO layout and looked up how to add smoke.

Out of curiousity, I took the steam locomotive on the bridge shot and added smoke to it using a different method. It doesn't look to bad, but it's one of those "forced" things rather than a natural addition. I don't want to take away from Marty's modeling by uploading a picture that's "good enough" rather than superb.

Hey Marty,

Hey,
Too much like work. [:D] That's why God made the sun. Won't water my lawn in the summer either. I always tell the wife to let God water the grass. Have a heat dish from Costco. Maybe I could melt part of it and pretend it's summer. Nah......I'll just play indoors for now. Off to shop! Later eh...Brian.

Thanks J.
Keep in mind this is GRR #4 in about 14 years. It all takes time . If you have the GRYs 2003 feb issue it tells the story. I'm cheap, most all my stuff is hand made but for the trains, track.
If you go visit MyLargescale.com and look for my threads under NTCGRR sig name you'll see more photos.
Plus look back through this forum.
We work hard at having fun.

Marty,I've been looking at garden RR pic's all week and these are some of the best
i've seen so far, certainly amongst the most realistic.I thought the farmhouse
in the background was a real house from across the street or something that just got caught in the background, truly amazing I am just blown away by the detail.
And I love the SD45'S I am going to buy a couple from Aristocraft.
But what I like best is that awsome bridge, did you make that if so how?
Your setup is just what I have been dreaming of so I guess i'll have to steal all your idea's...he he. I've got your pic of the train coming over the tressle as my desktop background.

Wannabe train guy.

Hey Marty,
Gotta' be on batteries here next season. Living in snowville just isn't right without running trains in the snow too. This season started out with wet snow that froze up quick. About two two inches of ice on the tracks now. There's still next year! Thanks for the pics. Later eh...Brian.

I hear ya. When its this cold out its hard to find the motor switch and turn it off so the smoker works.
I know how TOC feels about head lights. in bright sun only LEDs show up.
And its usually a light wind which kills the smoker anyway.
I'm not into photo shopping smoke, so its life.
I'm hoping to get more onboard clips today. Plus I have a nice dift that the rotary will look good going through. Thats if I can stand it. 0 degrees out right now. no work today.[:(]

Marty:

Must appologise for using the incorrect word above when admiring your Rotary Plow. It was a l-o-n-g day, and I had a serious brain cramp in progress.

Seriously, (and you probably are getting tired of it, but) I am constantly in AWE of your work.

YES, YES, YES! Marty!

That looks super!

The only real give-away is the lacking exhaust - both steam and diesel - which, as a rule, really shows up on cold days.[;)][:)]
Most people won't look that closely at the background trees, except ......... well you know the story.[;)][;)][;)][:)][:D][:D]

Hi,
I've had a couple of e-mails about the farm house. Its a cheap 3/4" plywood box with cedar sticks glued on. All structures are modeled after ones I found in Walthers cat. i just inlarged them to 1:29 scale.
The snow is frozen rain from the sky.[;)]

ttrig, perhaps I should have said "REAL" to complete my reference to Marty's signature.

Oh, btw, they are 1:1 when compared with themselves. ;-)

What do you mean #2 looks real! They are ALL real, the proper question is to ask Marty the scale are they 1:1 or "G"!

Marty: You continue to dazzle us (especially me) with your skills. I continue to watch your {Rotary Plow} in action and almost wish I could build something like that, but then that is exactly why I left snow country!

Edited because I used an not so appropriate word.
