Railroad Rebuilding Progressing Fast
By: Jim Scholvich
Work on the rebuilding of the Boulder Creek & Western Railroad is progressing greatly! About half of the line is rebuilt and ready for ballast, and the rest of the railroad is almost ready. New 90# (pound) rail was delivered as well as new ties and other track componets. Unfortunately, a late rain last night caused a small landslide on Bovine Hill causing a bit of debris to fall on the track. Luckily since the slide was during the night, there were no injuries. Although half the railroad is rebuilt, there is still a restricted speed limit of 10 miles per hour on the rebuilt half of the line and 5 miles per hour on the unworked part of the line. The railroad is also looking at purchasing another "Ten-Wheeler" or "Mogul" from the Bachmann Locomotive Works. Plans have been finalized for the Redding extension. Work will begin on that part of the line in Spring of 2006.

Work on Depot Begins
By: Amber West
Work on the old Boulder Creek depot began on Wednesday. It had been converted into a maintenence shed, for storage of old railroad equipment. It has been cleaned out and right now the wood is being completely re-done. Work wil continue until the weather gets bad. The main goal right now is to get the roof and sides done so the group can work on the inside during the winter months.
