I agree, when the owner of the car comes back, he's going to say," from now on i'm taking the tram, this car ain't worth it!"

Troy,
Ian's just stirring the pot! See 2 tree times thread and unveil that forked tounged rattlesnake! Probably trying to get property values down to buy cheap land for new breweries!

By the way, if you intend to export trams to the two trees area (either N&M or reported competitor) you need to include air conditioning, It's almost as hot and humid as the domicile of the Devil!

Wow, Bob, that sounds just like a Scooby-Doo plot!

Velma: "Jenkies, look! It's not a ghost at Two Trees, it's old man Iandor under the mask!"

Ian: "Right mate, I'd a gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling blokes!"[}:)]

He tried to talk me into helping him to get a secret visa to UK so he could perpertrate the act of arson in question...Rgds Ian

TJ's got it properly pegged! "Ian the Irker" as opposed to "*** Dastardly"? Hey guys, if we all get together on this we can create a new TV show about our railroads and get paid big bucks for having fun; then we can each buy acres of land to play trains in.. We can have our heros, heroines, victims, and baddies and laugh all the way to the train store.

I think we should all build some bizarre things and play Whacky Races on rails.
That would be fun.[:D]

At first I thought Cap Bob's idea was really stupid until I turned on the TV and saw what was actually showing.......not so dumb of an idea after all.

C'mon, Troy, let me have a little fun, PUHLEEESE!!!!!!![:D] I promise not to build anything with a range of more than 25 meters!

In all seriousness, that would be really fun, have an international whacky build-off for the garden RR, you know, just have a bit of fun, and then post our creations and "vote" on a winner. I'm game!

I say the rules should be simple, I favor a 1 truck power axle, not to exceed 14 inch (0.35 meter) in length or exceed 50 US Dollar (41.45 Euro) in cost. No holds barred to the imagination otherwise.

Any takers or do you all want to defer victory to me?

And everything apart from the truck handbuilt ?
I'm game.May the most outrageous contraption win.
Hang on though. We need a theme.,as in catch the pidgeon.
Ideas anyone.??

You betcha Troy, everything but the power truck handbuilt. I envision stuff gathered from the house and scrap box. That is why I want a spending cap- not only to keep the cost down, but to show the natural creativity of the builder, not what he can afford to buy.

Crap, now you want me to use my brain and think of a theme. What could be understood internationaly, I don't think a holiday would do, certainly not the 4th of July[swg] What about Vic's offhand suggestion, sci-fi? A Jules Verne competition??? A garden full of Victorian fantasy machines, I like that idea.

This is starting to sound like it may be fun.
How about something along the line of they must all have seating for at least 2 figures? To make it a vehicle of some kind. Other than that it's a freelance build all the way.

I still think it has to be for something.
A purposeful vehicle (even though the bits on it won't work ) but whimsical
An example of ideology and imagination.

Who am I trying to kid!
If we start this,it will be taken over by the kids.If you think 25 metres is fair TJ,you wait until you see what they can come up with.

Bout the only thing I can think of is to mount a rubber shark on the motor block, connect the tail to a gear so it will sweep back and forth and sweep the comptition off the tracks.

Seat 1 figure between the jaws, and the other hanging on to the dorsal fin!

I'm a wordsmith boys, I can fling excrement at the rotating turret and then stand back and watch where it lands all day long!

TJ had a mentioned a size restriction of 14 inches or 355mm for length, it should be able to fit thru normal tunnel portals also. How about just the restriction that it has to have a public works purpose like a police vehicle, fire truck, ambulance, dog catcher, electric company what have you just a work vehicle.

At-Ease, Troy!

Ok, we got so far:

1. Fit through normal tunnels/ 14" (350mm) length
2. Municipal use vehicle
3. Victorian fantasy styling
4. Cost restrictions as posted above.
5. seating for 2
6. one powered truck

Now, to be completed in two weeks? I think that would be fair for a non-scale one time use model.

Should we drop the Victorian style and let the modeler choose the style? I think that would be less restrictive to creativity? We got a size, cost and theme already, why constrict style?

All in favor, say AYE by midnight forum time! Tomorrow one of you will have to post a new thread stating the complete rules, I'll be on a mission tommorrow and not able to get to a computer until much later in the evening. This could be really exciting! The digital gauntlet has been thrown! May the best Southeastern Virginia modeler win!

As I was reading through this issue, I envisioned something like Sir Lacerlot strapped to the front end of a keboshed engine, leaning forward with the sharpest pointed lance ever seen by man. Now with this rule set (public service vehicle) that bombs that idea!!!!! Bumer!!!!!!!! I'm game!!!!!! We'll have to post the full rule set somewhere in its own topic!!!!!!!

ttrigg,
You could always arm him with a sooper dooper pooper scooper and call him the town doggie doo guy! After contest he could become early model snowplow!

Or his lance could be used to lift girls skirts (DOM) to check for proper undies!

Even as envisioned he could be cleaning trash from the right of way, heavens knows most of them need that!

Oh, the seating for 2, Lady Godiva could be riding in back (How Victorian can you get?).
