Paint

I'm building a wooden model of a wooden electric locomotive. I'll probably use a bru***o paint it instead of spray cans. Can any one recommend a brand or type of paint to use that won't obliterate scribing and small details and will provide a flat finish? If anyone has used a particular brand successfully I'd certainly like to hear about it.

I use the hobby paints from walmart, usually what ever brand is cheapest that has the color I'm looking for. they are water based so if it is a bit thick you can always dilute it some with a bit of water. They usually cost around 1 -2 dollars a bottle or the bigger ones for up to 4 dollars I think it was. Hope that helps you out some.

Take a good look at the paints from Games Workshop.

Folk-Art - available from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, MJ Designs, etc. for around 97 cents each, in almost every color ever imaginable.

Great stuff, covers well, and can be diluted to varying degrees for wash effects, etc.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will start with the cheapest paint and work my way up as high as I have to go. The Folk Art will be first because it is free! Unbeknownst to me until this afternoon my wife uses the stuff. I'll give it a test shot tomorrow on a scribed scrap. The Games Workshop is a fascinating site. I'll have to revisit the site to see if any of their stuff is available from a retail shop in my area. Rastun, when I gather my nerve I will try Wal-Mart. The nearest one to me is up Highway US270. About half of the drivers are Kamikazes and the other half seem to try to get in reverse.
