Nic,
Underneath the wheels nearest the middle of the loco are two VERY deep holes. You will need a long screwdriver to get at the screws in the bottom of the holes.
If the screwdriver is really long I find you can wriggle it down in between the wheels and frame to get into the holes.
Otherwise the trucks have to come off.

Best wishes,

Tony Walsham

I think my 44-tonner has two screws at the end of each hood, they are partialy hidden by the trucks. Hope this helps.

Hi All

I have one of these and am wanting to convert it to digital.

I have asked USA trains, and got little back, and done a dig to find out how to get this thing apart.

I have found nothing.

I have undone all the screws i can find, can get the cab off, but cannot get the two hoods off. They don't slide, I cant see any more than two screws at each end, they don't pry off. Any ideas on how to ge the [censored] apart would be appreciated?

Has anyone installed a digital module into one of these?

What is your experience?

Thanks
