A caboose might have prevented the whole thing? Or am I just trying to wax nostalgic!!!

All joking aside, I didn't think there were many such trestles on the Union Pacific these days. Most of the ones in South Texas under the control of UP are concrete, there are some wooden culverts and some smaller trestles, but non as long as this one appeared to be.

Fantastic photos.How long did THAT take to clear up!
Feel sorry for the train crew when they had to explain why they were late----and where their train was.And then explain the bridge....
