Golden Spike-a couple of new pics
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, May 14, 2005 1:26 PM
Hi guys,
We had a nice little ceremony today when the last aristo bolt was tightened up and secured the track to give me a continuous circuit. The days of end to end running have gone, I can now switch on and watch or do other things and listen to the train rattle along. I have actually cheated a little by consigning the top loop to a spur that will serve a mine. It's actually nice to run the loco's and they all behaved perfectly.

The connie highballing

The view from the back window showing the kingdom

Birdville, all from our local Asda at about £2-80 each

Early evening now, I'm going to run a night train!
Cheers,
Kim

I've altered the camera settings to get more detail, varnish at Birdville

passing the future mine site/loading chutes

Not sure if there's more detail or not?
Ah well, work tomorrow.

Way to go, the layout looks great. [:D]
I'm still envious of all you garden guys. I recently finished the plan for what we want to eventually do with remodeling our house, by the time i got done adding the house addition, new garage, studio, patio and driveway, I have a 10'x10' lawn area left over, and that is mostly for the dog....[:(]

Kim, More Detail? i tend to think in the garden a minimal approach works better for me, but thats just my [2c]

The real answer is , detail it as much or as little as you want, tons of buildings or tons of plants, thats too personal for one of us to offer much more than our own opinions . BTW I personally like the birdhouse approach to adding buildings, they often look more unique than the piko/pola offerings.[8D]

   Have fun with your trains

[^] Way to go Kim. Looking good. I like the bird`s eye view of the layout. Wonder if we could all post pics of the whole layout in one shot.
Somehow think Marty might have a problem!
Will have to bring the Society up the M6 for an Open Day soon.[:-,]

All the best Ian P

Cheers guys, thanks for the comments. Ian, open invitation for garden railroaders, but it's a long way!! Good idea about the sky shots, I would like to see some sky shots of Marty's set up, or even atrack plan.
Cheers,
Kim

Very nice, Kim! Yes, it's great having a loop to run a train on and forget about for a while. I have left the thing running all night, no harm in that I guess unless it rains.

Speaking of rain, do you take your photos between rain showers, or is it an unusualy dry spring for England? I swear I don't remember any sunshine in the 3 years I lived there.

I'd love to visit your RR next. Maybe if all goes well I will be in England for Christmas this year. If that happens I will be sure to look you up!

Once again, congrats on the golden spike!

For Marty's maybe we could call the CIA and they could fly over his layout and take pictures with one those U2's they have, kinda like a training mission.[:D]

Matt, I like that idea of the CIA doing a spy job on Marty's yard. If anybody's visiting Marty plant a couple of little people somewhere along the line in a dug out, see if he finds 'em!

T-Jack, great idea, keep me informed on your plans and yes, climate change mate, more and more sunshine.

Y'know, George is right about inspiration. I think back to all of the mags I have read, all of the pics I have looked at and all the experience I gained first time round and suddenly it's there, a train is going round. I do have to say that whilst I enjoy the mag and the pics in it are superb it's what's talked about and shown on this forum that has been the most help to me. So, please remember that every comment made and every pic posted is helping someone to get that little bit further with their RR.
Cheers,
Kim

Just 8:20 am here Ian and a full days work to get through. I'm looking down that long tunnel to retirement but I can't see any light at the end yet. I suspect that when Tony's finished with us we'll be working until we are 70 unless you have a substantial pot of money put away. Still, that's life....................

You guys,,,,heheheh
I have a friend how "says" he'll take me up in is plane to take photos this summer. We'll see if he does it.
As far as a track plan Doug mathers from MLS said he could draw it up on the puter. hes has my hand drawing but I have not seen the postable copy yet.
Plus this time of the year trees are a problem. great for shade but not for cameras.

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?
