A little off topic but my Wife was down your way last weekend. She loves hot weather. This weekend Saturday it was dry enough for me to do a little civil engineering while charging the battery on the lawn mower. I ran out of those pesky little Aristo track screws before I got to the end of the project. Battery didn't charge up enough on the mower before the rain either. Today inside all day even have the fireplace going to cut the damp chill.

We have been having some good weather but that was in the middle of the week (Wednesday 80 degeres F). Its now Friday (36 degrees F this morning) so they are predicting rain again for the weekend.

The paper is for making decals and it looks like it is made so the ink from your printer will stick to the clear "paint" you spray on it so you can transfer the art work from paper to rollongstock... The paper can be bought as a kit with everything you will need (including software) or just the paper and/or spray.

As far as the civil engineering work goes some parts of the world it is still the rainy or some other season that makes any outdoor work hard to do. I know in my back yard had some ducks visit it the other day.

I realize you would find this difficult to make your own decals and it is not a quick solution. It took me several days between making the artwork and letting the "paint" dry. But I thought you and others may find it fills a niche like it did for me. The only time I used anything but my right hand was cutting out and sliding it off the paper backing for the decals I made. The art work (letters, logos, and so forth) were created on the computer. Then the special paper was put in the printer and it was printed. I set the now printed paper on a flat surface and sprayed the clear decal "paint" on it (several coatings).
I remembered you have use of only one hand but I thought it may be an alternative to the stick on letters when they do not match the rolling stock or you wanted to make some of you own private lables.

I admit it is not the quick solution like yours. I also do not know how well the decals will last for those that leave their rolling stock outdoors most of the time or run in the rain.

yep had the first set of c&s lgb pass set from a set of prr took black electrical taped out prr and added c&s.

I've been hunting for white, with black or clear background. Even if I do find the color I want , most of the time there are no &'s (B&O is my favorite road). Or if there is an &, that's just the problem, there's only one. If you want to do a tender or what, you have to buy two sets to get enough for both sides. Now we are talking $$$'s to letter one piece of rolling stock !
Just bought a stamping set with a &, at a scrapbooking shop for about $7. My wife already has several colors of ink including white, black, gold, silver, and red. Going to soon put B&O on a Lehman ToyTrain caboose. I'll add it above the present markings which just say AUTO EXPRESS.
Thanks for giving me the inspiration to get around to doing it.

they are vinyl lettering peel and press with 6 set of letters & # 's 2 sheets lots of letters and #'s. ive had sheets of them for ten yrs just had run out of blk. on another forum they have painted them let them dry and use custom colors.

i could do that but i cant really paint and decal with my one handed well. it's real time consuming i did 3 cars in 1/2 hr.

I have seen those letters at Staples. You may also want to look into some of the make your own decal sets. I ran across it at a local hobby shop that caters to RC car and planes. You can get clear or white background. You print what you want with this decal paper, let it dry, then spray on some sort of clear stuff, and when it dries it works like a regular decal.

You are mostly limited by the quality of you ink jet printer. I have used it on one of my GE 44 Ton engins so it looks like a local short line RR. (still have not figured out how to include a photo with the text so you can see my first try at making decals here).

I like this because it is relatively cheap and you can use it for art work, you can use the different fonts on your computer to match the lettering on rolling stock, and I have found it at local hobby shops and mail order on the web. For the web sites I just entered "Make your own decals" in Google.

i did up box cars about 7 yrs ago i used letters.
