Hi Trainmaster,
I updated the hopper photos, and will post better pics tomorrow.

You asked about water stains, I use black ink thined down with water . Gives it a nice look. Try it on some scrap wood first..

Here are some picks of it with rust stains on the tank.

Any suggestions on how i can make it better?

Thanks Scott,
I tried to get the link to work but gave up after changing it so many times.

I will post the finished photos on the same page along with some of the other cars I have built,

Aljay,
it nearly worked, a little tweaking and i got to the page.
those are awesome cars they look great. Will you post photos of the finished product on that page?
BTW i don't think the forum likes html which is probably why it didn't work. if you just type in the address it should just convert it to a hyperlink automatically.
Again, great models.

Ghelman,
Actually I made up the design, however it does seem reminiscent of the Rocket; (maybe it's not as original as i thought :-)
It was used in the pacific northwest (at least i think that's what dad called it) during the late 18 hundreds to early 19's, hence the sea gull you see in the completed pictures. The Railroad is in an area similar to that of Calico Ghost Town.
Here is a shot of the tender nearly completed i just need to paint the couplers a rust color.

more to come soon

Nice Trainmaster,

What is the background on this kind of tender, like when and where was it used?

Aljay,
Thanks
Sorry about the pics. Geocities has an hourly data transfer limit and so it must have been down. Were the ones that didn't show up the latest ones?
I'll keep this post updated. Almost finished.

John Busby,
Thanks.
I haven't yet tried it at Fairplex, however it has worked in all my tests.
The filler cap is going on today. I wanted to get the tank secure first.

Here are the latest updates:

The fuel bunker with filler styrofoam inside

The tender cradle

The filler cap

The completed tank

More to come soon.

Hi trainmaster1989
While not to my tastes that is certanly an interesting looking tender.
Has it worked out the way you hoped as far as stalling goes.
One small coment how does the crew fill the water tank? cannot see a filler cap in the
pictures.
regards John

Hi all,
I just started a new tender for my Porter to provide power when going over frogs.
Heres some pics.

And yes those are headphone things attatched to the truck.
I didn't take pictures till i put it in between the bookends to hold the couplers in place.
