I have a few sections of used track and a whole pile of old Aristo wide radius turnouts. Nothing wrong with any of them that a couple minutes cleaning and tightening screws didn't fix.

[#ditto] Hi Tom,

Don't worry about the pond mate, them and garden railroads are made for each other. Careful with tight bends, LGB make all their stuff to go round the smallest curve (as per their starter sets) but other manufacturers recommend 4' radius where LGB 1100 is 4' diameter - or very nearly!
Cheers,

Tom,

As Ian said LGB and Aristo should be fine 2nd hand. There is a slight profile change between the rails, but with a bit of care you can connect the two to each other. This is OK on a permanent layout. You don't want to be doing it all the time on a temporary one though.

5 watts? Are you sure you mean watts and not Amps? If it is 5 amps you should be fine for single loco trains. If it's 5 watts then you might have a problem, I don't think you could even run a N gauge engine on that!

If you intend to run 3 or 4 engines on the front, then 5amps might be a bit low. But start out small and you can work your way up and learn as you go.

Glen.

Mate what can I say but everything you have said isn't really applicable.

2nd hand track is ok as far as it goes but you may have continuity problems if isnt reasonable clean around the joints. Aristo and LGB trackis fine.

1100 mm and 4' is very similar and is about as tight as you should go if you don't plan to run LGB.

5 watts wouldn't run an ants layout, why not get an LGB starter set ans it has it akk in it and they are on ebay for some very small money
