Hi troy
I am Glad I am not the only one with Photo problems I have to sort out the ones I have and use Matts idea on them.
I am very certain that that one is Longmoor Military Railway.
BR didn't diferenciate regions with markings but by colours.
So A London Midland Region would have been crimson lake or black
Southern green or black NE would have been apple green or black
Western Brunswick green and still have all the GWR brass work
and the coaches where basicaly the old company colours but all had
BR totems and numbers on them it did not last long before they standardised all the colours which is a shame I think they looked a lot better than the Blood and Custard livery
Still preffer the old company liveries and markings more colour could be put in a model especialy if it was a caracterfull branchline

Troy, I suggest you do tie your Dad down and write down on the back of them as to what they are. In doing so your preserving history if not for you and your kids but maybe for future railfanners or modelers. I have hundreds of family photos from the late 1800's to through the early 1900's with no clue as to who some of the people are[:(].

Hello John.
I have no idea what they were.I just assumed with the LMS.The pictures were taken in the1960's but I don't know where.I have loads of pictures like this from all around the world.I really must go to my dad's,strap him to a chair,and interrogate him on all of his pictures.

The boilers can be rebuilt or complately replaced with new, theres a company in Germany thats specializes in it, but once the drivetrain is scrapped, its gone forever.
Just a thought on steam preservation.[8D]

I think you mean Longmoor Military Railway.
Its not a BR locomotive the colour is wrong and there are not enough digets in the number and no lion and dartboard Totem.
I believe one has been preserved on the Severn Valley Railway

Its scrap metal by the location of the X's I would say those parts are going to be used to maintain or rebuild an other locomotive of the same class.
I take your point on preserving steam but if the boiler is shot its not worth attempting.

Troy are those recent pics? are these engines still around? or were those older shots back when these were being scrapped?

2-10-0 ? Pretty cool Troy. Although I hate to see any steam equipment anymore that is not well maintained, It's kind of like saying were going to bury another one.
Maybe the UN ought to pass a law against the mistreatment or lack of protection for steam equipment. Anyone owning such equipment who does not make strides to preserve it will be tried for war crimes. [:D]

I was filing some of my dad's pictures today and found these.
The LMR is ,or was, the London Midland Region.
