Hello KeRail,
I am in Los Angeles, so I don't have any info on East Coast private layouts, but I've got some suggestions for you:
1. The B&O museum in Baltimore. Fantastic! They had an excellent garden railroad outside when I was there in 2008. My daughter was there 2 years ago, it was still there, but check the website. Great museum.
2. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. They had a G display indoors, but check the website. This museum has the Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives that were saved, across the road is the Strasburg railroad, where you can ride a steam train, and the Toy Train Museum nearby.
Both of these are fantastic, and close to where you will be.

Dear Garden Rail Friends,
I live in East Africa. As far as I know, my temporary LGB layout is the only large scale model railway in East and Central Africa. Currently, I am planning for a permanent setup on the Indian Ocean coast that would be inspired by East Africa's contemporary narrow gauge, including refurbished GE-B23-7 engines adjusted for narrow gauge.
The lack of community and support in the region makes it hard to learn, discover, connect. So I try to connect when I travel. I'll be in DC and NYC later this month and would love to connect with any garden railway enthusiasts: Are there exciting layouts to see? Are there any meetups or events? Any recommendations for shops to visit?
25-26 May I can be anywhere around or between DC and NYC - Baltimore, Philadelphia, you tell me ... I'll be in DC the week before that weekend and in NYC for a couple of days after. Please share or direct message with any connections!
Cheers, KeRail
