Hi

Ive got a 5km line in the making. does anyone know where to get or have large rail built im thinking of a track thats about 1" wide and 1.5" tall I can build my own ties for it. I'm planning on using real deisels about 8-10 ft long. I am planning on moving small rocks, gravel, dirt, and logs. I want it realistic. If anyone knows anything that would be great.

Sounds like you want something in the size of the trains in amusement parks, try the manufacturers of those rides. Also might try like a zoo that has a train ride. Don't know where you're from, but St. Louis Zoo has one, the Milton, DE Chamber of Commerce has one in the town park that they call the Milton Clipper. There are 2 of that size in Wildwood, NJ. If nothing else, go look at one and find the manufacturer from the nameplate on the engine!!!

Do a search for "ride on rails" that should turn up some responses
Take care,

You could also check a local steel fabricator. They may have some industrial type stock that would work or could be easily modified by you or by them.

Take a look for Groovy Track. It's built with 1" x 3/8" steel flat bar. The ties are made from slotted 2 x 4's.
