Glad you are OK! The story keeps getting worse, the more we hear, and learn about this terrible disaster.

We feel sad for the people of Maui. It will be tough times for a while.

Paul,

Yes, we are fine, thank you for asking.  The fires on Maui are a 30 minute flight away, so we were quite safe.  We have no family there, though we have friends, coworkers, and neighbors that do, and their experiences range from "close call" to "lost everything."  Lahaina, the old Royal Capitol, is gone, almost to a building.  We will probably never know the numbers of those  for whom those flames became a funeral pyre.

The fires are largely contained, and aid is arriving.  Many churches and civil programs had a strong and active presence, which is helping to assess needs and to deliver aid.  Recovery, however, will be long for all the families touched by the fires.

It's finally cooled off a bit. Cleaning track today, and try to get some trains running.

Eric, hope you and yours are O.K.
