I just want to thank everyone who set me straight on garden railroading. I never considered a lot of the things that were brought to my attention in using other scales outside. The clincher was the fact of fine scale wheel fllanges on the O scale engines and cars.
Also, I didn't realize that the prices of the G scale engines and cars wasn't nearly as steep as I had thought they would be. I just looked at ,( I think they were made by U.S.A ) F-3 diesels, I can get a pair of powered A - B units for $400 (Canadian) for the pair...new. I was told these run well and are of good quality, and would be a good starting point.
They are big compared to the other scales, but they look soooo good!! I now think I can make it work, no that's wrong......I will make it work. Thanks again to all that voiced opinions and pointed me in the right direction.
