Remote Control HO
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 27, 2005 10:20 AM
I've been out of the hobby for many years and was wondering if there are any r/c engines in HO or a resource that provides a "how to" convert HO to r/c.

Are talking still powering the trains via the rails, or via on - board battery power? If you're powering off the rails (& assuming an indoor HO layout), you may want to go with a wireless DCC system.

The only R/C for HO that I have ever known of is to use Digital Command Control (DCC) and a wireless, hand-held throttle system, such as that sold by North Coast Engineering or CVP Products' EasyDCC.

Look at the "DCC For Beginners" item on Tony's Train Exchange for information about what you can do with DCC. http://www.tonystrains.com

littleguy,
I asked a similar question on the ModelTrains side and got a little info.
I know Aristo Craft sells an HO Train Engineer( HOTE) and someone suggested a product called Rail Lynx. I don't have any experince with either but onthe Rail Lynx site they offer a demo. I hope to pick up some more info from this thread.

Wanted to add: both systems I listed above are R/C not DCC. HOTE I believe is radio wave and the Rail Lynx I believe is infra red or sumthin like that?!
