How Does the Aristo-craft C-16 Run?

Quick update,
Ran the C16 this weekend, didn't even bother cleaning the track just cleared a bit of debris out of the way. The motor block is still a noisy beast, a few squeeks and groans from here and there but it responded to the TE just fine and after a few circuits in the spring - on clean track - I think it will be just fine. I've got the Rio Grande 'bumble bee' on order!

I have one of there moguls, and it has stode the test of my abuse for 10 years.

just don't have enough money to buy Lgb right now.

Also i want a C-16

If you are confused or have any doubts don't buy anything just put your money away and wait until you can afford something from LGB. The you wil not have any trouble at all unless you get involved with MTS.

YES! it will go around LGB R1, the original Delton engine this and everything designed before 1995 will go around an R1

Has Aristo improved the motor block? I had two at one time and they were a constant problem when it came to the motor block. Had to have them each replaced (one of them twice). They are also quite noisy as I recall. I remember buying them from trainworld on closeout for around $115.00 apiece. They weren't good pullers on grades above 2%.

It's 1:24 scale, runs well, looks good and compare it to the Bachmann mogul that's 1:20.3 and you can get away with anything. $186-50? I just paid £162-00 and consider that a bargain. It looks good with the Bachmann coaches and for me it's the old maxim, if it looks right for you - then it's right. Did I say it's well made? It is! Can't comment on the curves, I only run 8'.

Be careful. If I'm not mistaken the Aristo C-16 is 1:24 scale. That scale is now almost completely defunct (even though that's the scale I model in). Most narrow gauge steam locos today are 1:20.3 scale. Since you're just starting out, you should consider scale very carefully.

I have a aristo C16 it's heavy and i use it inside where i have 4ft. curves and out side where i have 8 ft ft. curves .out side it goes from ground level to 21 inches off the ground , to a bridge 10 ft long I PULLED up to 8 CARS WITH IT . it's not a fast engine .
its is heavery then my R-S-3 Diesel engine. ben

Ok I am Short on cash and want to buy a new engine. I am looking at the aristo C-16. I just have a few questions like


How many cars will it pull?
How heavy is it?
What is the minimum radioous?
whill it go around LGB R2 curves?

Any info will be great
