I am having trouble with electric connections and have finally given up and am starting to look into battery power/rc. I am wondering what the basics are on how convert dc track powered locos to battery, and how to do it. Especially how to convert a big hualer 4-6-0 to battery. Thanks, Nathaniel Nagel

Sorry, I cannot help you. For me, in the end, it proved more cost effective to use track power. Forum member Greg E. has a webpage that I use as a starting point for my projects. There is an applicable section for you, too, regarding R/C.

I just finished doing my Mason Bogie and found it to be extremely easy, first step is selecting a control unit, I selected a G scale graphics because of size, price and ease of installation, and there customer service, but their are several out there to chose from. They also offer a sound board that is not much bigger than a postage stamp and the area I had to deal with was about half the size of your big hauler tender. Their steam sounds are great but I will admit that their American whistle is a little on the weak side but for the price more than good. Start by removing all contacts to the rails and existing wiring, it then is an easy task to join the motor leads to the board along with the ones from the selected battery.
