I would have to look at it and IF I got stumped, my fellow Aspie Ross down at Zionsville Train Depot would be my next person to look at it.  He is the boss when it comes to LGB stuff.  He has been fixing them since he was a teen working at Watts train shop, and now for Zionsville Train Depot, which is the reborn Watts on a smaller scale.

Mike,

My U-Lok Glitchy Gustav is also of 1980-s vintage.  This is old fellow is the one that keeps eating his idlers.  I've had him looked over professionally, replaced his side rods, resat the motor umpteen times, etc.  All I ever get is another set of ground out idlers.  A local fellow looked "him" over and said the motor doesn't seat right.   I am stumped on this one...

Thanks, she is from the 2nd run of them in the light red lid box with foam lower box.  The very first runs were in the old yellow shoe box style boxes.   She has lost her ballest weights and gained 6 sub-C battery cells, 3 in each side tank area. I went dead rail about 7 years ago when live steam power took over most operation.    Mike

Really love that engine! They were produced over a long time span.I remember them in Toy stores in the early 80's. Still in the catalog in 2000. You've got a nice example !

Love the lights Mike. Everything looks so cozy. I'd love to curl up with a good book in one of those buildings and watch the train go by!

I bet I could fix your U lok!  Fixing trains has been my thing since I was a teenager.   I wish there was a nicer live steam U lok!  Beck makes one but its a bit crude when compared to the LGB model.

Since I have loads of time on my hands during this lock down, I finished the wiring to the lights on the far side of my railway, then it was time to run a train.  My old 2073d is a very early model, has been converted to onboard battery power, as has the rear coach.  Enjoy!     Mike the Aspie
