3D printed turnout
Posted by Graffen on Friday, August 16, 2019 5:45 AM

Hi, I received a bunch of AristoCraft small radius turnouts.

They are too tight in radius for my locomotives though.

So, I decided to rebuild them. I have a Wanhao duplicator 4S 3D printer.

I CAD designed new ties and frog for a #5 turnout.

The things I will salvage from the donor turnouts are the point blades, switch bar and the rails.

This is how far I've come.

I like it.   I guess a reasonably cheap way to make points

I await further installments

It will be interesting to see how it holds up outside in the weather
