Does this unit have the stock LGB decoder (probably a re-badged Massoth)?

Sound Shorting out on LGB Diesel
Posted by railroader21 on Sunday, May 12, 2019 9:57 PM

Hello Everyone,

Interesting problem I have run into with my LGB White Pass & Yukon Diesel Locomotoive model 25554. When starting the engine on either DC or DCC the idle sound of the diesel engine is heard and all the other accessory sounds work including bell, horn, whistle etc. However once the train picks up speed the diesel idle sound drops out completely and the loco runs with no sound. Only when crossing over a sound magnet or remotely pressing the function commands on DCC will the horn, bell, whistle, etc play, the diesel noise however will only start again by removing the locomotive from the tracks and starting again. Only to cut out again once the locomotive picks up any amount of speed. Has anyone ran into this before on a locomotive of theirs? My theory is something is tripping which would cut off the sound but why would the accessory sounds still continue to work fine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
