False Front Office Building
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 31, 2004 6:07 AM

Here's my latest structure project, and below shown along side the prototype that inspired it. The walls are corrugated plastic, and the corners and cornice plastic bathroom molding. It will be part of Rick R.'s garden railway, who is one of my large scale buddies here in South Jersey.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year to the entire GR gang,

Bill C.

Nice one Bill.I've tried two buildings so far and I can't get it right. How did you scale it?
However, this picture gives me a good idea.A fair bit of my railway runs alongside a fence. If I just build the building fronts and attatch them to the fence I might be able to make a go of it.Maybe I should do what you have done and build from a picture. That way mine won't look like a giant dolls house !!.

Troy, here's the MLS thread on how I built it:

Sometimes you have to tweak it as you go along to get it right.

Hi Bill,
Nice work, I would like to know what you used for the roof shingles as they look great.

Al, that's wet/dry (waterproof) sandpaper cut into strips and glued on with Liquid Nails. After it is in place it was scribed lightly with a utility knife to represent shingles. A very inexpensive material found in such places as Home Depot.

Bill
