MRC transformer

Found this older MRC transformer that was in the garage and was all rusty, now I'm trying to figure out what all the switches do. There is a HO/G switch in the back above the power cord entrance that booses out going track voltage from anout 14vdc to 18vdc, on the front the top red switch is the power on/off switch and just to the left of it is a very small LED that glows red when the switch is in the on position. The bottom switch is the directional switch and there are also small red LED's that light when in on direction or the other. Now I'm left with the 2 center black switches. The one just above the bottom directional switch controls power to a reversing loop, but can't figure out what the 1 directly below the top switch (on/off) power. It is a single poll on/off switch and doesn't seem to control anything... Readers and ideas?........

Hope you are not planning on using that bad boy. Looks like a candidate for the recycle bin. On the other hand, I'm sure some bits and pieces from inside would make interesting additions as scenery enhancements.

Actually Tom it works great, the inside looks brand new, the only problem was it that so rusty I couldn't tell what the swiches were for. Sat on a screened porch in Florida about a mile for the ocean and there is nothing, if not covered covered, that wont rust. Do most my kit bashing on the porch and at night have to put my tools in ziplock bags. I was just needing a transformer that would go below 5vdc and the little LGB starter set one wouldn't and it was difficult setting voltages for LED's. Bought some orange and yellow flickering LED's and started putting them in my engine's fireboxes adds quite a bit of glow at night. The Kalamazoo combine that I turned into drover caboose, I seperated the passenger section from the caboose section and in the corner of the cowboy section I made a pot belly stove and lite it with the flickering LED's and then in the caboose section I added a white light. Really something to see at night as the cowboys are all visable in the stoves flickering light. Nice hearing from you, Bill

Drat...for once I thought I was going to be able to help you, Bill.  I have 2x MRC Throttle Packs, but 1980-s vintage.  Your MRC 6000 has far more bells and whistles, though!
