can lgb decoders be put in other manufacturer's locos? i was thinking of usa's nw-2 or maybe a gp-7or 9. i went ga-ga for lgb, without checking out the long term viability and their lack of American diesels. this is my first post - go easy on me[8D]

Sound to me like you went the right way. [:)] The LGB decoders can be installed in other brands, but you will have to be careful of the power consumption of the loco. The MTS will handle 5 amps. Some USA and Aristo Locos draw close to that one their own, so you may not be able to operate more than one train at a time.

Yeah, Richard has a point, I personally wouldn't do it.
