What Glue To Use For Woodland Scenics Grass on an Outside Raised Patio Deck Railway
Posted by knight2hug on Thursday, July 21, 2016 4:18 PM

I built a G-scale railroad on a redwood deck 3 feet off the ground. I want to cover the wood planks with Woodland Scenics grass and turf. What glue shall I use?

Outdoor exterior paint and sprinkle on turf before it drys?

A spray on 3M Adhesive and sprinkle on it?

I need an adhesive that will hold in the rain and UV sunlight.

I seem to have a unique problem because online I can not find anyone else who has made a large outdoor railroad on a wood deck.

How would you make the wood deck look like dirt and grass?

I appreciate any advice you can give.

My reply is don't glue the track down solid, it will shift.

Likewise, unfortunately, gluing the ballast in place will most likely also cause problems.

Can anyone tell me how to upload photos from my iPad to this message?

I want to show you my deck with buildings and live plants and rocks.

When I click on Insert Image it asks for the Source.

What does that mean?

Knight, here's a link to a FYI post that CTT has. It's the exact same for here.

1. To "glue" yiur scenery in place i would recommend an eath tone outdoor paint. Do small sections at a time using a liniar feature (road, fence line, rock wall etc.)to seperate your sections.

2. iPad to forum pix. Open an account on Pinterest, post from the tablet to Pinterest and then link to forum. There are several other place to store your pix in the cloud that will link to the forum, but Pintrest is the simplest to use.

One member of our Club uses the stuff used to paint into truck beds.  It's got texture (color is black).  Put it down, paint it green (except in CA, paint it dead grass), then sprinkle the grass material on the wet paint.
