Piko power clamps C and D
Posted by pirate lynn on Saturday, June 11, 2016 12:19 PM

question on Piko reversing unit--according to diagram, am I correct in assuming I need to attach clamps C and D past where I've installed insulated rail joiners? If anybody has this unit, help would be appreciated here.  If so, I assume I'd need to length cables for C and D since my trolley line is pretty long--each wire would need to be lengthened by about 14 feet.

I do not want to sound like I'm getting on your case here, but it is easier for others to follow if you keep all your questions on a subject in a single thread. I had to go back through all your previous postings to find the diagram in question. Just would make it easier for others to respond.

Now to answer your question, Yes, C & D attach just beyond the isolaters. Yes, you will need to add wire to reach the places in question. Any type of wire joint will do. I prefer to use the "Wester Union Pigtail Splice" as it is very good electric joint and has great tensile strenght. (Does not come apart when it gets snagged and pulled on.) If you do not know what it is, just do a Google Image search, lots of pictures and instruction.

Enjoy your new unit.
