Ian...first off its Addams, the cartoonist Charles Addams spelled his name with the second D. Been a fan of his strip and the show since i was a little kid, maybe thats why I'm a little warped today..[}:)][:D]

Simple answer is...if you never worked with explosives, dont start now.[:0]

When I was a kid I used to light firecrackers and M-80's (1/4 stick of dynamite) under bridges and tracks for my old Lionel and HO stuff and damn near lost body parts or get skewered by flying parts. When your a kid you think its fun, then you get older and realize what an idiot you were and how lucky you were not to get seriously hurt.[:(]

Not to mention that I blew up some pretty decent stuff[:0][:o)]

   Have fun with your trains

Hi Ian,
Down there in summer land do you have the equivalent of what we call 'caps' for cap guns. The kids buy them in a roll with a small amount of gunpowder every quarter inch or so. They put them in their guns and a simple gear pulls the strip through the guns hammer mechanism, so every time the kid pulls the trigger, 'BANG' I just wonder that if one of the small caps was put on the track would the loco have enough compression to set the cap off? The nearest thing I can think of that's like a proper railway detonator.
Cheers,
Kim

Do I read this right Ian.You actually want to blow up one of your trains[%-)]
I used to blow up my Action Men with fireworks when I was younger.Hence none to give to my children(well no whole ones). One tip before you do this.Make sure you have film in the camera or it will get really expensive[:D]

Yeah mate I want to make explosions of a small nature to add a bit of interest to my life, I don't want to damage my trains, just add some noise and excitment.

I don't know if you guys have "cracker bights" in the northern hemisphere, this used to be Empire Night when we were part of ther old British Empire, it is called something else now and crackers (fireworks) are banned anyway.

As kids we used to love to blow up neighbours letter boxes and the really gutsy blokes used to blow up their own, your mother on the rampage with broom in hand can be a pretty daunting sight.

Well anyway as i got older cracker nights changes for me and young girls become more interesting than blowing up letter boxes. I can recall many, no several, no more than a few romantic interludes around a dying Bon fire, after all the little kids had gone to bed.

So there we are.

Hi Bombardier Brown,
After all the romantic interludes you're back to blowing things up. The bigger the boys, the bigger the toys! Madness runs through the veins of us all, we spend hundreds/thousands/millions on beautiful models then we run them outdoors and blow things up - well some of us anyway. What's that noise?................INCOMING!!

Kim

I knew you "banana benders" (Queenslanders) were strange but I didn't think you would go that far.
It must be the sun.
There must be a law against it or maybe your family will have you comitted.
But if you must, post some photos on the web.
By the way you can still buy fireworks in Canberra.
All the best or should I say "Good Luck"

No, I had this idea before the big Tilt Train crash, I am not really a Queenslander I'm just living here and loving it. I am something much worse, a Sydneysider, hence my barbed words about Canberra. (For our overseas freinds a Sydneysider, is someone from Sydney; Australias largest and oldest settlement and city; capital of th state of New South Wales, some 1000 km south of here)

Well the cap idea worked well, i am getting little bangs from time to time now, great fun. I put one right up in "Vampires Tunnel" and the reverbrations were terrific.

For anyone that is interested in a few weeks i will be 68 and I still prefer girl watching to any other pasttime. It is just great here on The Sushine Coast with topless activities in great abundance.

Regards

Merve the Purve.
