Anyway, just thought I would take this opportunity to say hello and welcome to all our new mates from us Brits, well the few of us who are on here![;)]

And I'm from Vancouver Island. God's gift to Garden Railroaders--other than the general lack of level ground

[bday] Ian. You should be up for another wagon come Christmas then? My wife drags me to the railway shop for birthdays/christmas.

Capt Carrales, you may call us Sire, M'lord, Sir Troy/Sir Ian/Sir Kim, as long as it's respectful!! [:-,]

Isn't that one of the great things about this hobby? There's never any trouble making a wish list. When I was actively in HO, I always had a list, and when people asked me what I wanted it was easy. In the hiatus between that and GR, there was really nothing I wanted, and I'm sure I was a pretty frustrating relative at gift time.

ECHOS FROM THE REALLY DEEP SOUTH.

1/ What is this subject about, I can't seem to quite understand where we are up to.

2/ I could have still been a POM but I think my great great great maternal grandfather may have done sonmething wrong and my father had too much to drink one night in Glasgow, which I do not think is anything unique.

3/ You may all be luxuriating in the cold weather over there, but feel for us summer is nearly here and its 32 deg cel at only 9.30 AM, and it will get worse.

4/ Joe what about putting a picture of the Aussie flag up I bet you stuff it up asnd put up a Kiwi fllag, God bless the Southern Cross.

5/ Did yoy guys know we have had a disater on the Kawana Island Tropical Railway, working in our area 3, span number seven on our viaduct slipped and 6 little people were killed, you may also be able to cover that Joe.

Thast it. fr sure.

We downunders also represent a small proportion of the Garden Railway nuts.
But at least we "have a go" on the Forum.
I have noticed there is a lot of window shoppers on the Forum.
For the record I live in Canberra the Nation's Capital and also the highest city in Australia. Lived here for 24 years.
All the best
Gary.

it seems that we have a good disbursion from the English Speaking nations in this forum...

Numerous Brittons, Aussies, Candians and Americans (dare I say Yanks); but there are many prominent people of New Zealand and one or two South Africans. I recall, and I am not the final authority on this, there have been a handful of Dutch, German and French contributions here.

All in all, I enjoy my international communitcations with you all and value it. I sometimes quote some of your comments to my 8th Grade history students.

[:)]Thank you all for the good wishes. Kim, my wife drove nearly 40 miles on her own to buy my present. She said she was only popping out for a couple of hours.

I merely share the historical view points expressed on some of our topics by our overseas associates to flavor the mix.

By Gosh, it is I who will apologize...I didn't mean to sound offended. That is the problem with written words...they sometimes lose the emotion intended. I took no offense...and ask for understanding.

Joe, well done mate you got the flags right and i'm proud of you!

Gary; what do you mean by the highest city in Australia, is it because there is so much hot air down there, from all the polittians that the place is going to float away.

We really haven't given our respective polititions proper workout but I bet ours are just about the worst in the world, thats because they get such bad pay and even then they are not worth it.

Why are polititiions like bananas?

They hang out in bunches
They're yellow through and through.
There is not a straight one amongst them.

Hi Capt Carrales
I think the flags say it all not sure what the bottom one is, broken link
now if we could agree on the one brand of the English language
as well as the union jack in the flag[:D].
We could then get on with the serious business of enjoying and sharing our hobby.
And leave the politics to the[:o)]'s we vote for every 4 years or so[:D]
regards John
